What You Can Do If Your Dryer Is No Longer Drying Your Clothing

A dryer that has stopped drying can definitely stop you from completing your laundry, or at least in your own home. Lugging your clothing to the local laundromat may not be ideal, so getting your appliance working properly again is essential in your daily routine. You can call a professional appliance service repair company to help you make the repair, or there may be a few things you can try in order to get it working properly again. Read on for a few tips.

Dry Smaller Loads

Instead of shoving your entire laundry basket into the washer and dryer, try doing smaller loads of laundry to see if this dries your clothing better. If they are always coming out damp, it may be because the dryer is not able to tumble the clothing properly in order to get them as dry as possible. If you have damp clothing, where only some of the clothes are getting dry, this is more than likely the cause. Dry smaller loads instead and stop overloading your machine. Eventually, those larger loads will catch up with you and you'll break the drum or something else in your dryer, not to mention, you'll have wet clothes.

Clean The Lint From The Dryer

Remove the lint from the dryer in the lint trap inside the dryer. You should empty this lint trap with every single load of laundry that you do, although people rarely do this task and end up with the lint trap looking more like a blanket rather than just a little bit of lint. Clean out this trap, and if you have a lot, you may have to open up your dryer and remove the lint from around the drum as well. Clean out as much lint as possible, including from the dryer vent to open up the airways to your dryer so it can run properly. This is also a fire hazard, so be sure you clean out all of the lint.

Check For A Flame

Keep an eye on the dryer to see if the flame remains lit on the pilot light. If there is no flame, or it burns out quickly, it could be a sensor issue. When this occurs, the sensor may need to be replaced, or the flame sensor may need to be cleaned. This is going to require you to do some research on where the sensor is located inside your machine. If you are not comfortable with this task, you may want to leave it to a professional repair company.
